Paris Hilton to Do Jail Time?

Prosecutors asked a judge on Thursday to revoke Paris Hilton's probation for reckless driving, which could lead to jail time for the celebrity socialite, the City Attorney's Office said.
A hearing has been set for April 17 for prosecutors to argue that Hilton, 26, violated the terms of her probation by knowingly driving with a suspended license, said Nick Velasquez, a spokesman for the city attorney, Rocky Delgadillo.

The hotel heiress and star of the reality TV show "The Simple Life" was sentenced to three years probation in January after pleading no contest -- the equivalent of a guilty plea -- to alcohol-related reckless driving.

Five weeks later, police pulled Hilton over again in the city of West Hollywood for driving without headlights and impounded her car, a $190,000 Bentley, when they discovered her license had been suspended, authorities said.

The case was then referred to the City Attorney's Office.

At the time, Hilton's spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said his client was not aware that her driving privileges had been curtailed. But prosecutors have since concluded otherwise.

"We are confident that we have sufficient evidence to prove that her license was suspended, and that she had knowledge of that suspension," Velasquez said.

If found to have breached the terms of her probation, Hilton could be sentenced to up to 90 days in jail, he added.

Rihanna Releasing New Single "Umbrella"

Some singers take two-year breaks between albums. Rihanna is working on her third disc, just two years after releasing her first.

"It's a nonstop pace, very speedily, and Def Jam does not play, that's all I can tell you," she joked of her record label in an interview with The Associated Press. "We just keep going and going - it's fun, we make sure that we have fun while we do it."

The hits are likely to keep coming and coming for the 19-year-old Barbados beauty, who has had success with "S.O.S.,""Unfaithful" and "Break It Off." Her new single, "Umbrella," was due out Thursday, the first song from her upcoming, not-yet-titled album, set for release June 5.

"It shows such growth for her as an artist," Def Jam President Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, told the AP. "If you listen to the lyrics to that song, you know the depth and how far she's come."

Jay-Z delivers the opening salvo on the dramatic song, about the strength of a relationship.

Rihanna said the song can be about a romantic or platonic relationship.

"'Umbrella' is a serious song, a relationship song. ... It's different, and that's what I love about it," she said. "People are not going to expect a song like that from me."

The singer made her debut with island-flavored dance groove "Pon de Replay" in 2005, from her debut album, "Music of the Sun." Less than a year later, she released "A Girl Like Me," a platinum success that broadened her mainstream appeal.

Artists usually don't release another album so quickly, especially when they're having success with their current one. But Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio "LA" Reid said Rihanna's upcoming album, which features labelmate Ne-Yo and a song written by Justin Timberlake, is being released this summer because the label feels it's that good.

"In the past, Rihanna has made really great singles. This time, Rihanna has not only made really great singles, but a great album," he told AP. "We want people to hear it now and experience it now."

But fans may be surprised by what they hear.

"My sound has changed," Rihanna said. "It's a lot edgier than the rest of the stuff that anyone has heard from me before. I'm singing about different things, it's a lot sexier."

She also considers the album more adult, reflecting the quick growth she's had to do in her short time in the spotlight.

"This business really helps you to find out who you are, and how strong you are," she said. "You need strength and determination with all the negativity coming at you sometimes ... I've grown a lot."

Part of the negativity Rihanna has faced involved talk of an alleged affair with mentor Jay-Z. Rihanna said the rumor was upsetting but she's learned not to let the gossip mill get her down.

"At first I was like, 'Ha ha, it's funny,'" she said. "Now I just ignore it and I'm numb to it. ... You cannot stop people from saying what they want to say."

Anna Nicole Smith diary sells for over $500,000 !!!!

Following the tragic death of Anna Nicole Smith, fans have attempted to catch a glimpse into the life of one of America's most followed celebrities. Tour groups have added Anna Nicole Smith's Bahamian mansion to their list of sights in the small Caribbean nation, her grave has garnered a significant amount of attention, and now her diary is the most recent hot-ticket item. The private ramblings of Anna Nicole Smith, pertaining to everything from men to sex to partying and even her dead cat, has been sold to a German man for more than half a million dollars, according to an auction house official.

The personal diaries of Anna Nicole Smith, one from 1992 and the other from 1994, have been sold on eBay for a hefty chuck of money. The 1992 diary was sold for $282,500 while the 1994 diary raked in $230,000, as well as a 20 percent buyer's premium. CNN has reported that the buyer of the Anna Nicole Smith diaries was an anonymous German businessman who plans to sell the information contained in the diaries to various media outlets. After selling tidbits of information to the highest-bidding outlets, Monsters and Critics reports that the auction winner will likely resell the diaries before year's end.

The auction company that facilitated the eBay sale has said that the "soap opera value" of the Anna Nicole Smith scribblings could be worth more than $1 million on its own, including the rights to publish scanned images of the diary pages. The 1992 diary is said to contain 26 separate entries from January to August, whereas the 1994 journal contains 30 such entries, spanning from January to July. One excerpt released to the media features Anna Nicole Smith writing about her ailing husband, J. Howard Marshall II, as she scribbled, "My husbands very weak. Theres nothing I can do. I want each hour to comfort him with medicines and prayers."

According to Jeff Woolf, co-partner and auction director at Universal Rarities in Corona, California, told the media that the two diaries were found a few years ago by a man cleaning out a Los Angeles-area house where Anna Nicole Smith had stayed while filming a project. The man then sold the two diaries to a memorabilia collector that owns a shop on Hollywood Boulevard. Following the death of Anna Nicole Smith on Feb. 8, the collector came forward with the diaries, wanting to sell them via auction. Woolf told Reuters that the demand for Anna Nicole Smith memorabilia has been overwhelming. "I don't think I've had the luck of being in such a situation, where the timing was really that perfect as far as the peak of someone's popularity in the news." As for the anonymous buyer, Woolf said, "The gentleman who bought them required to be anonymous but I can tell you he is from Germany and has the intention of making a book out of them and doing some things in the publishing world."

Autopsy results which will detail the cause of death of Anna Nicole Smith will be made public on Monday. Since Smith's death, a bitter paternity battle has broken out over the former Playboy Playmate's daughter, Dannielynn.

Elizabeth Hurley for Boho Label

British fashion label Monsoon is reportedly searching for a new spokeswoman after a #1 million ($1.95 million) modeling contract with Elizabeth Hurley failed to increase profits for the design house.

Hurley, who recently married businessman Arun Nayar in a number of ceremonies in the UK and India, is apparently "too mumsy" (mother-like) for the label who normally target a younger, more bohemian market.

A source tells British newspaper The Sunday Mirror, "The label has started investigating possible replacements for Liz.

"We had a disappointing period before Christmas and hoped that signing Liz would improve the figures. While the disappointing profits aren't Liz's fault, the company wants to shake things up and get back to its core market.

"People have suggested that Liz's image is too mumsy. She's also a bit too refined for Monsoon, which sells boho-chic clothes rather than tight jeans and low-cut tops."

Mallika drops bikini

Mumbai: Actress Mallika Sherawat usually leaves nothing to imagination in her films but in a new movie she will do an even bolder role.

Mallika has dropped her bikini and put on a burqa in Unveiled, her second English language film after The Myth.

An eight-minute cameo appearance in action star Jackie Chan’s The Myth earned Mallika a trip to the Cannes Film Festival in France in 2005 but it did it little else for her career.

In Unveiled, Mallika gets a chance to play a much more meatier role. She is a Muslim woman who journeys through three continents. If fans think Mallika has become coy, sample this: she has two husbands and one lover in the film.

"She has flaws and her morals are questionable but she is a very normal person. She is not a shadow behind the burqa and she is very sexy,” said Mallika at a press meet while speaking about her role.

The film’s director Bill Bannerman, who has assisted Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven and Bridges of Madison County, says he is a Mallika fan.

"I have seen Pyar Ke Side Effects, Murder and Myth but it was after watching Murder that I knew she was the one," said Bannerman.

Carmen Electra got so cold signing autographs at the premiere of her new movie 'I Want Candy' she had "goose-bumps the size of nipples".

Shilpa Shetty on UK Big Brother

SHILPA Shetty is presently in UK. She is not shooting there for some Bollywood film but is a part of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’. Big Brother is one of the most talked about and reported show on UK television. The Indian version of it is running presently by the name of ‘Big Boss’.

Reality TV show ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ has returned for a fifth series, with 11 personalities from the worlds of glamour, TV, film, pop music and journalism.



The inmates of Big Brother’s house have tasks to be done every week and if they are successful, they are bigger budgets to buy things and treats as well. At least one celebrity will leave the house every week by a process of nomination and public eviction. Shilpa is adjusting with the Big Brother’s house, striking friendship with the mates and trying to break the notions of the West of Indian’s not being very bright.

The show kicked off on January 1 and spends 25 days at Big Brother’s house. She is the sole Indian at the show.

Shilpa Shetty is trying hard to be a favourite of voters as their polls can save her from being eliminated.

On her second day, she was attempting to teach the relaxing qualities of Om to her housemates Carole Malone, journalist and Ken Russell, film-maker. She was teaching them how to chant ‘om’.

Just when they had begun the exercise Ken’s coughing broke the meditation and Carole started to blame the doomed session. In fact, this started when Shetty was teaching Carole the relaxation techniques and Ken got inquisitive and joined the session.

Soon Shilpa offered some advice to her new-found students, ‘You`re not breathing right. We`re so occupied with life and the stuff we have to do that we don`t breathe.’

Shilpa said she was Hollywood’s answer to Angelina Jolie. The house-mates as well as British newspapers don’t quite agree with that although.

The British tabloids The Sun and its rival The Mirror have taken this opportunity and did pictures on her, one showing flattering publicity pictures and other showing a groggy-looking Shilpa.

She is trying hard to woo the British audience but seems to have not faired well. There are speculations that soon she will be asked to perform a belly-dance on the show with former beauty queen Danielle Lloyd and the celebrities are also said to be strapped to special monitors to determine who is the most sexually frustrated of all.

Britney Spear tries to kill herself!

Staff at the Promises clinic, where Britney Spears checked herself into last month, has been put on a 'suicide watch', after the singer reportedly tried to hang herself with a bed sheet.

Britney had friends and family worried sick when paramedics were rushed to the clinic recently, and now a friend has revealed that medics were called because she tried to commit suicide.

Just before she tried to hang herself, the pal said, Britney wrote 666 on her shaved head, and ran around the clinic screaming "I am the Antichrist!"

"She is still very vulnerable. Last Saturday she said she had the number 666 written onto her bald head. She was crying, and shouting, ‘I am the Antichrist!' The clinic people just didn't know what to do. Then she started screaming, ‘I'm a fake! I'm a fake!' It must have been really frightening," the News of the World quoted the pal, as saying.

"Later that night she tried to kill herself. She attached a sheet to a light and tied it around her neck. Paramedics were called, but luckily she was unhurt," the pal added.

A source at the clinic also revealed to the paper that Britney had realised what a ‘rock’ her estranged hubby was, and that she not only wanted them to get back together, but also to have another baby.

"Britney has realised what a rock Kevin has been to her, and how out of control she has acted recently. She has been talking to Kevin every night for hours on the phone, telling him she still loves him. She just wants to be with him again, and thinks having another baby will seal their marriage," the source said.

The source insisted that the singer was also much happier and calmer than she was at the time she checked herself into the clinic.

"Britney seems much happier and has calmed down a lot. She's a completely different Britney from the beginning of the week," the source said.

Another source close to Britney said that the singer was now thinking about renewing her vows with K-Fed.

"Kevin has been a real tower of strength for her and she has finally decided to give their marriage another shot. She thought things were over between her and Kevin after his wild partying and gambling," the source said.

"She felt he had deserted her and left her to bring up their two children on her own. She never even dreamed she would take him back. But Kevin's like a different man now. He's never been so caring before, and is really worried about Britney.

"He's been Britney's rock during her difficult time, and she wants to give him another chance. This week she even asked if she could have a night away from the Promises Clinic with Kevin. She's still waiting to hear if they will give her a pass so that they can go out for a romantic meal together.

"Kevin has also taken their two little boys to see their mum in rehab," the source added.

Much to the dismay of her family, friends and fans, the singer's life has been spiralling out of control ever since she dumped Federline last year.
